Well now that the preppy trend has started to die down, new trends are rising.
So if you haven't noticed hipsters are alll over tumblr and like everywhere, so here is you guide to being hipster.
Q: What is a Hipster?
A: Definition of HIPSTER: a person who is usually aware of and interested in new and unconventional patterns. - Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Now that may have no meaning to you what-so-ever, but here is a easier way of explaining that, in my words.
HIPSTER: Is not just how you dress or how you look. It is a life style. Hipsters are based off of nutella and tumblr. They appear to be like hoes, s.luts and druggies on tumblr, but those images are totally misleading. A hipster is someone who is not afraid to be a free spirited, fun-loving, wild child who is never going to grow up and is only herself, only.
Q: How do I act like a Hipster?
A: The trick is, to not try. There is no 'way' to act like one because being hipster, is being you. Hipsters are all one-of-a-kind. So whether you are spunky and crazy or calm and cool you can be a hipster.
Q: How do I dress like one?
A: http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/collection?id=2057731 Oh wow! Look at that I even made you a lovely collection of items you should keep an eye out for. Some of those items are like a billion dollars but you can get easily find something just like it for a lot less. I suggest stores like forever 21, Thrift shops, Rue 21, Top Shop, Urban outfitters, and even target. Even though they look like they aren’t very hipster, they are. It’s how you style them.
Q: How to style clothes so they look Hipstery
A: LAYERS! Layers, layers, layers. To start of try some sort of bold pattern and add a item with a color that reflects that color. For instance, lets say I wearing tribal print pants with bright orange, red, green, blue, ect. I would find a top with one of those colors to balance out the look. Once you have mastered the art of matching, kick it up a notch. Try 2 patterns in your outfit. REMEMBER WHEN USING PATTERNS: if the patterns run horizontally they will make you appear wider, vertical will make you look slimmer and taller.
